Service interruption via device-tree node refcount leak
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Reference-count leak in the MAX77620 MFD driver in affected Linux kernels allows local users to interrupt service through memory exhaustion. The max77620_initialise_fps function obtains the fps child with of_get_child_by_name but omits the matching of_node_put, retaining a device-tree node reference. Reachability requires the MAX77620 or MAX20024 driver to initialize an fps device-tree node; the published impact is limited to availability.
