CVE-2022-50094

Kernel stack disclosure via oversized SPMI trace copy

Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel SPMI tracing allows local users to read one byte beyond a supplied stack buffer. The trace_spmi_write_begin() and trace_spmi_read_end() callbacks pass len + 1 to memcpy(), copying one byte past the caller-provided buffer into trace data. Reaching the flaw requires a vulnerable kernel to execute an SPMI read or write tracepoint; the demonstrated consequence is limited to adjacent stack-byte disclosure.
