CVE-2022-50092

System crash via failed thin-pool table reload

Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel dm-thin module allows local users to crash the system by reloading a failed thin-pool table. The dm_pool_register_metadata_threshold function registers a callback against metadata space maps destroyed when the preceding metadata transaction aborts. Reachability requires local access and a metadata commit failure followed by a DM table reload; the reported consequence is a kernel crash.
