CVE-2022-50079

Kernel memory exposure via stream encoder bounds error

Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

An out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel AMD display driver in affected 5.14-based branches allows local users to access adjacent kernel memory. The dcn303_stream_encoder_create function accepts eng_id through ENGINE_ID_DIGE despite DCN303 having only two encoders, then uses it to select VPG and AFMT instances. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and the DCN303 display path; public materials disclose neither a concrete trigger nor an observed outcome.
