Service interruption via leaked XDP transmit pages
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Memory leak in the Linux kernel allows local users to exhaust kernel memory through virtio_net XDP transmit processing. When xdp_convert_buff_to_frame() fails after xdp_linearize_page() allocates a replacement page, the XDP_TX error path neglects to free that page. A local low-privilege user must reach the mergeable-buffer XDP_TX path; repeated failures consume kernel memory and can interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
