Host crash via uninitialized address-space metadata
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 5.19 through 5.19.3 allows local users to crash the kernel when adding a vdpa_sim_blk device. vdpa_sim_blk leaves the nas and ngroups attributes at zero, so its first address space remains unallocated and vdpasim_map_range dereferences vdpasim->iommu[0]. Triggering the panic requires local access and permission to create a simulated block vDPA device; the demonstrated consequence is a host-wide service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
