Host hang via double NAPI disable
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Improper locking in affected Linux kernels allows local users to hang iavf virtual-function removal after rapid VF resets. In iavf_reset_task, mailbox setup failure calls iavf_close, which invokes napi_disable twice and deadlocks while holding crit_lock. Reaching the flaw requires local privileges to trigger rapid SR-IOV VF resets and a hardware mailbox setup failure; removal then blocks and the hung-task watchdog can panic the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
