Local service interruption via leaked IRQ bitmap
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Memory leak in the Linux kernel CXL driver allows local users to exhaust kernel memory during failed IRQ allocation. The afu_allocate_irqs error path releases IRQ ranges and names but fails to free the bitmap allocated by bitmap_zalloc. Exploitation requires low-privilege local access and a CXL AFU IRQ allocation failure; repeated failures exhaust memory and interrupt service.
