Kernel crash via descriptorless AXI DMA interrupt
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL-pointer dereference in Linux 4.17 through 5.15.62 and 5.16 through 5.19.3 allows local users to crash the kernel via AXI DMA. axi_chan_block_xfer_complete() dereferences the result of vchan_next_desc() without first checking whether a descriptor exists. Reachability requires local low-privilege access and an interrupt on a DesignWare AXI DMA channel with no pending descriptor; exploitation interrupts the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
