Memory leak via unreleased xfrm policy reference
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
A resource leak in affected Linux kernel versions allows attackers to consume unreclaimed kernel memory via unspecified vectors. In __xfrm_policy_check(), failure to fetch pols[1] returns without decrementing the pols[0] reference acquired by an earlier policy lookup. The public record does not establish how attackers can force that error path or whether repeated leaks culminate in a hang, crash, or another service interruption.
