Local system crash via unrestricted TPROXY hook
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
A null-pointer dereference in the Linux kernel allows local users to crash the system by installing an nftables TPROXY rule. The nft_tproxy expression lacked hook validation restricting it to prerouting, so use from an output hook reaches a null pointer. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and nftables TPROXY support; the bounded consequence is a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
