Kernel crash via oversized DG2 migration copy
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Integer overflow in Linux kernel 5.19 i915 migrate_copy allows local users to crash the kernel with an oversized DG2 graphics object. The function uses plain integers for sizes and passes an entire local-memory object to emit_pte despite fixed 8 MB mapping windows. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access, DG2 graphics, and an object larger than 64 MB to trigger the kernel assertion.
