Kernel crash via missing shared xHCI root hub
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel 5.19 through 5.19.7 allows local users to crash the system during a controller reboot. The xHCI platform driver's remove path unconditionally removes and releases both host-controller structures when the shared root hub does not exist. Reachability requires an xHCI controller with only one root hub and execution of the reboot removal path, producing an availability-only kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
