CVE-2022-49931

Kernel crash via incorrect hfi1 list move

Published May 1, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in affected Linux kernels allows attackers to crash the host through an hfi1 fabric link-down event. The sc_disable() function calls list_move() on the piowait list head as though it were one entry, corrupting traversal before waiter wake-up. The hfi1 driver must be active, the link must go down, and at least one send-completion waiter must exist; the documented result is a kernel crash.
