CVE-2022-49915

Memory exhaustion via unreleased mISDN device names

Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Memory leak in the Linux kernel mISDN subsystem allows local users to cause availability loss during failed device registration. Error exits in mISDN_register_device() omit put_device(), retaining the reference to a dynamically allocated device name so kobject_cleanup() cannot free it. The path requires local low-privilege access and a registration failure; repeated triggering consumes kernel memory and can interrupt service.
