CVE-2022-49886

TDX guest compromise via unchecked TD attribute

Published May 1, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Kernel compromise in Linux kernel 5.19 through 6.0.7 allows attackers controlling a local TDX VMM to take over or crash the guest. The x86 TDX boot path failed to reject ATTR_SEPT_VE_DISABLE being clear, letting the VMM inject private-memory #VE events during sensitive kernel entry. The issue also affects 6.1-rc1 through 6.1-rc3; no guest account or user interaction is required.
