CVE-2022-49862

Kernel service interruption via signed TLV length mismatch

Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 23, 2026

Use of uninitialized memory in Linux kernel TIPC allows local users to interrupt the system through a malformed netlink request. tipc_nl_compat_name_table_dump_header compares a signed TLV payload length with unsigned sizeof, allowing a negative length to pass the minimum-size check. A low-privileged local account and affected TIPC compatibility code are required; the published impact is limited to availability.
