Kernel crash via unchecked allocation failure
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux pinctrl devicetree code allows local users to crash the kernel while pin mappings are built. In pinctrl_dt_to_map, a failed kasprintf allocation supplies NULL as a property name to of_find_property, which reaches strcmp and dereferences it. Triggering requires local low-privileged access and an allocation failure during devicetree pin-control mapping; the reported consequence is availability loss only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
