Kernel crash via unchecked xarray retry entry
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in Linux kernel EROFS 5.19 through 6.0.9 allows local users to crash the kernel through fscache activity. In fs/erofs/fscache.c, erofs_fscache_req_complete() iterates an xarray under only an RCU read lock and dereferences XA_RETRY_ENTRY instead of retrying. The flaw requires EROFS fscache mode and concurrent xarray modification; the invalid dereference causes a kernel oops and system-wide service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
