Service interruption via ADC trigger reference leak
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Memory leak in the at91 ADC driver in affected Linux kernel versions allows local users to interrupt service through resource exhaustion. When iio_trigger_register() fails, at91_adc_allocate_trigger() omits iio_trigger_free(), leaving the reference from iio_trigger_alloc() held and preventing iio_trig_release() from freeing memory. Reachability requires a local low-privileged user, an at91 ADC configuration, and a trigger-registration error; the reported consequence is availability loss without data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
