Resource exhaustion via SDHCI PCI reference leak
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Memory leak in the Linux kernel's SDHCI PCI driver allows local users to exhaust resources through the vulnerable device-probe path. The amd_probe function calls pci_get_device, which increments the returned pci_dev reference count, but returns without a matching pci_dev_put. The published assessment requires low privileges and limits the consequence to availability loss; no public source documents a reliable software-only trigger.
