System crash via unchecked USB PHY resource
Published Mar 27, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel 6.1 through 6.1.8 allows local users to crash the system during Sunplus USB PHY probing. sp_usb_phy_probe() passes moon4_res_mem->start to devm_ioremap() without checking whether platform_get_resource_byname() returned NULL. Reaching the crash requires local access and a Sunplus USB PHY configuration in which the named moon4 memory resource is absent.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
