CVE-2022-49742

Local denial of service via uninitialized F2FS lock

Published Mar 27, 2025 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Improper locking in the Linux kernel before 6.1.11 allows local users to interrupt service through an F2FS initialization error path. The f2fs_fill_super() setup can invoke f2fs_handle_error(), which takes sbi->error_lock before spin_lock_init() has initialized that lock. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and an F2FS initialization error path; published evidence identifies no confidentiality or integrity impact.
