Service interruption via unreleased device-node reference
Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
A refcount leak in the Linux kernel before 5.19 allows local users to exhaust kernel resources and interrupt service. The mdp4_modeset_init_intf function retains the remote device-tree node returned by of_graph_get_remote_node instead of releasing it with of_node_put. The flaw requires local low-privileged access and a system using the MSM MDP4 display path, and its published impact is limited to availability.
