CVE-2022-49609

Local service interruption via reboot-driver refcount leak

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Resource exhaustion in the arm-versatile reboot driver in affected Linux releases allows local users to interrupt service. The versatile_reboot_probe function retains the reference returned by of_find_matching_node_and_match because it omits the required of_node_put call. Reachability requires local low-privilege access on an ARM Versatile system; public records identify no user-controlled trigger, and the bounded consequence is availability loss.
