CVE-2022-49592

DMA queue misconfiguration via shift overflow

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Integer overflow in the Linux stmmac driver from 4.12 allows local users to misconfigure DMA queue mapping on affected hardware. The dwmac4_map_mtl_dma function computes the MTL_RXQ_DMA_MAP1 mask with a 32-bit left shift, so queue numbers above four use an out-of-range shift and produce the wrong mask. Reachability requires stmmac hardware exposing more than four queues; the public record demonstrates a UBSAN warning but does not document a crash or other runtime consequence.
