CVE-2022-49590

Availability loss via unsynchronized IGMP sysctl reads

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Race condition in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to interrupt system availability through concurrent IGMP sysctl access. Readers in net/ipv4/igmp.c access net->ipv4.sysctl_igmp_llm_reports without READ_ONCE while the value can change concurrently, permitting an inconsistent read. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a narrow timing window; the documented consequence is limited to availability.
