CVE-2022-4952

Service interruption via unbounded JSON nesting

Published Jul 17, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Denial of service in OmniSharp C# Language Server Protocol 0.19.6 and earlier allows attackers to interrupt service via deeply nested JSON. CreateSerializerSettings used unconstrained default Json.NET settings when no global defaults existed, permitting excessive nesting to drive recursive resource use. The affected library must deserialize attacker-controlled JSON through a consuming language server or client, and the documented consequence is limited to availability.
