Kernel crash via uninitialized DA9121 regmap
Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Use of an uninitialized resource in the Linux kernel allows local users to crash the kernel during DA9121 device probing. An invalid device tree leaves chip->subvariant_id set to -EINVAL, and da9121_assign_chip_model() then accesses an uninitialized regmap configuration during probe. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and a DA9121 device probed through its I2C ID with an invalid device tree; the bounded consequence is an availability-only kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
