Authenticated code execution via unchecked archive contents
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in Pixel Jar AdSanity 1.8.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute server-side code. The ajax_upload function trusts the archive's declared MIME type, extracts its contents into a web-accessible uploads directory, and does not reject executable files. Contributor-level access and a valid nonce are required; a crafted ZIP containing PHP and index.html can place executable code on the server, even when an uploads-directory .htaccess file originally blocks PHP.
