CVE-2022-49479

Host compromise via transmit-status use-after-free race

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Use-after-free in the mt76 driver in Linux allows attackers to compromise the host via adjacent wireless access and station removal. During station removal, mt76_tx_status_skb_add can add an skb to a status IDR after cleanup and retain the freed wcid on the poll list. Reachability requires active mt76 Wi-Fi operation, concurrent transmit traffic, and station removal; exploitation permits kernel reads, writes, control-flow hijacking, or a panic.
