CVE-2022-49455

Kernel memory corruption via AFU registration cleanup

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Double free in the Linux kernel OCXL driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory when AFU device registration fails. The ocxl_file_register_afu error path calls device_unregister(), whose info_release callback releases the AFU reference and frees info, but then falls through and releases the same objects again. Exploitation requires local access and an OCXL AFU registration failure; published sources identify no reliable trigger or demonstrated consequence beyond possible memory corruption.
