Local kernel crash via oversized AF_RXRPC backlog
Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux kernel AF_RXRPC subsystem allows local users to crash the system by closing a socket with backlog 32. The listen handler permits 32 pending calls although its circular preallocation ring can hold only 31, leaving an extra uninitialized call during teardown. Exploitation requires local access, AF_RXRPC use, and a raised maximum-backlog sysctl; closing the socket dereferences the unset call peer and crashes the kernel.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
