Local service interruption via device-node reference leak
Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Resource leak in Linux kernel ARM HiSilicon support allows local users to interrupt service by exhausting kernel resources. In arch/arm/mach-hisi/platsmp.c, hi3xxx_smp_prepare_cpus() and hip01_boot_secondary() retain references returned by of_find_compatible_node() because their paths omit of_node_put(). Reachability is limited to affected 32-bit ARM HiSilicon systems, and the reported consequence is availability loss rather than data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
