Kernel service interruption via invalid delayed-work cancellation
Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Improper work cancellation in the Linux kernel allows local users to interrupt service during removal of the gpio-keys module. The gpio_keys_quiesce_key function calls cancel_delayed_work_sync on work that was never initialized for an interrupt-backed key without timer-based debounce. The condition requires that interrupt-backed configuration and module removal; the observed result is a kernel workqueue warning that can interrupt kernel service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
