CVE-2022-49424

Kernel crash via unchecked null larb device

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 23, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux Mediatek IOMMU driver allows local users to crash the kernel via an invalid device-tree IOMMU reference. The mtk_iommu_probe_device path calls dev_name(larbdev) after device_link_add fails without first rejecting a null larbdev. Reachability requires a Mediatek system booted with a malformed iommus device-tree reference; triggering the probe crashes the kernel without reported data access or code execution.
