CVE-2022-49396

Service interruption via leaked lane reset controller

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Resource leak in the Qualcomm QMP PHY driver in affected Linux kernels from 4.12 through 5.18.2 allows local users to interrupt service. qcom_qmp_phy_create acquires a lane reset controller with reset_control_get_exclusive, but late probe-error paths return without releasing that reference. Reachability requires Qualcomm QMP hardware described by device-tree lane nodes and a late probe failure, such as probe deferral; the leak can block normal device initialization.
