CVE-2022-49375

Kernel crash via unchecked platform resource

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux mt6397 RTC driver allows local users to crash the kernel during device probing. The mtk_rtc_probe function uses res->start after platform_get_resource can return NULL, without first validating the returned pointer. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and an mt6397 platform device lacking the expected memory resource; only availability is affected.
