Service interruption via XDR array length overflow
Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Integer overflow in NFSD in affected 32-bit Linux kernels allows local users to interrupt kernel service through a crafted XDR array. xdr_stream_decode_uint32_array multiplies an untrusted element count by four before xdr_inline_decode without rejecting a wrapped size. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access to a 32-bit kernel; public sources do not identify whether interruption occurs through a crash, hang, or another failure.
