Local disclosure or crash via enum misaccess
Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
An out-of-bounds read in the ASoC RX macro codec in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to disclose memory or crash the kernel. Enum-control callbacks access items through the long-sized integer.value member instead of the unsigned-int enumerated.item member, overrunning the control value on 64-bit builds. Affected upstream ranges are 5.12 through 5.15.32, 5.16 through 5.16.18, and 5.17 through 5.17.1; exploitation requires local access to a system using this codec.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
