CVE-2022-49235

System interruption via uninitialized USB frame fields

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Use of uninitialized memory in Linux before 5.18 allows local users to interrupt the system through ath9k_htc USB activity. htc_connect_service leaves svc_meta_len and pad unset, while htc_issue_send submits an uncleared control array to USB. A low-privileged local user must reach the ath9k_htc path with compatible USB wireless hardware; the documented impact is availability loss without data disclosure or modification.
