CVE-2022-49224

Kernel memory leak via failed sysfs initialization

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Memory leak in the AB8500 fuel-gauge driver in affected Linux kernel branches allows local users to consume kernel memory during sysfs setup. ab8500_fg_sysfs_init omits kobject_put when kobject_init_and_add fails, leaving the acquired kobject reference and its memory unreleased. Reachability requires the AB8500 driver and a failed kobject initialization in a local low-privileged context; the documented impact is limited to availability.
