CVE-2022-49215

Local kernel crash via AF_XDP teardown race

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Race condition in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to crash the host through concurrent AF_XDP socket teardown. xsk_unbind_dev() clears xs->dev and permits socket state cleanup before xsk_poll(), xsk_sendmsg(), or xsk_recvmsg() finishes using it. Exploitation requires local AF_XDP socket access and control of concurrent network-device teardown; the documented consequence is a kernel oops or panic.
