Service interruption via block-device minor-number overflow

Integer overflow in Linux block-device registration allows local users to interrupt kernel service across affected 5.11, 5.16, and 5.17 releases. The blk_alloc_ext_minor() allocator passes NR_EXT_DEVT as the inclusive maximum to ida_alloc_range(), allowing that out-of-range index to reach device_add_disk(), where MKDEV() overflows disk->first_minor. Reaching the condition requires local low-privilege access and allocation at the extended minor-number boundary; the published assessment limits impact to availability, not data disclosure or modification.
