Memory disclosure and crash via short _CPC package
Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel ACPI CPPC code allows local users to disclose kernel memory or crash the system through malformed _CPC data. The parser trusts NumEntries and reads the Revision element at index 1 even when the firmware-returned package contains fewer than two entries. Reachability requires a platform that supplies the short package; the bounded consequences are kernel-memory disclosure and service interruption.
