CVE-2022-49139

Local service interruption via malformed Bluetooth HCI event

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

A NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel Bluetooth before 5.18 allows local users to interrupt service through a crafted HCI event. The hci_sync_conn_complete_evt handler accepts a Synchronous Connection Complete event with an LE link type, then dereferences a null conn->link in an error-status path intended only for SCO and eSCO links. Local low-privileged access and an existing LE connection for the target Bluetooth address are required; the resulting kernel oops or panic interrupts service.
