CVE-2022-49084Network attack vector

Kernel panic via unchecked socket-buffer allocation

Published Feb 26, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux qede receive path from 4.18 allows remote attackers to panic the kernel through sustained network traffic. qede_build_skb() passes a NULL result from build_skb() to skb_reserve() when atomic socket-buffer allocation fails under memory pressure. Exposure requires an active QLogic or Marvell FastLinQ interface using qede; the documented consequence is a host availability loss, not data access or modification.
