Kernel crash via unchecked device parent pointer

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel allows local users to crash the kernel during an SMC InfiniBand device lookup. The smc_pnet_find_ib() path passes dev.parent to dev_name() without first checking whether the parent pointer is NULL. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an SMC PNET lookup that encounters a device with no parent.
