Kernel use-after-free via post-delivery skb dereference
Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux kernel HSR networking from 3.13 allows local users to trigger an invalid kernel-memory read during frame delivery. The hsr_deliver_master function calls netif_rx, which can free the skb, and then reads skb->len to update receive-byte statistics. Local low-privileged access is required, and the public record establishes no reliable exploitation path or consequence beyond unsafe kernel-memory access.
