Kernel memory corruption via unlocked CPU-affinity copy
Published Aug 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel 5.15 through 6.1.6 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory during a concurrent fork. dup_user_cpus_ptr() reads user_cpus_ptr without pi_lock while another task can clear that pointer during sched_setaffinity(). A low-privileged local user must win the race against fork, and a successful race can cause use-after-free or double-free.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
